TEARA SPEED DIAL NUMBERS

[bullet] Speed Dial numbers are just like those that you might use on your telephone at home...they allow you to dial a certain phone number without actually dialing the whole thing. This can be very handy, especially if you're in heavy traffic, etc. All members in the local calling area of the 147.39 repeater in Clayton (all of Johnston County, Garner, and parts of Raleigh) can get a speed dial number. Likewise, all members in the local calling area of the 147.30 repeater in Wilson (all of Wilson County, Greenville, Farmville, Fountain, and other parts of Pitt county ) can get a speed dial number. Members who live outside of the local calling area can get a speed dial number for someone that they may frequently call inside of the repeater local calling area. Members can also get additional speed dials if processor memory space is available. Save the speed dial updates as they come in your newsletters and store them in this area of your handbook for future reference.

[bullet] To speed dial a number, simply key the repeater, identify yourself, and announce that you are using the autopatch. Press the codes that are listed in this chart to dial the number to make your call. To "hang up" the call, use the appropriate hang up code for the repeater that the speed dial number is listed for. The speed dial numbers for all of Johnston County, Garner, and parts of Raleigh reside in the 147.39 repeater, so the hang up code is #. The speed dial numbers for all of Wilson County, Greenville, Farmville, Fountain, and other parts of Pitt county reside on the 147.30 repeater, so the hang up code is #5. Don't forget to identify again and say "clear autopatch".

[bullet] That's it!! You can use either repeaterís speed dials through either repeater, since they are linked full time. One could actually be in Durham and make a call to Greenville, or visa versa...

[bullet] Don't forget that all calls are limited to 3 minutes. This 3 minute interval is indicated on the 147.39 and 147.30 repeater by a two-tone signal that gives you about 30 seconds to finish your call. If you fail to finish up in time, the patch will hang up on you. You can also give yourself an additional 3 minutes on the 147.39 repeater by pressing the "extend patch code" when you hear the tone.

[bullet] This information is to made available to club members only, so please don't mention these codes or the patch time extension code on the air.

[bullet] If you wish to have a speed dial # added to the repeater, please contact the repeater trustee for the repeater you want one installed in.
