DESTINATIONS VIA K4RTP FROM TRIANGLE
SEDAN utilizes an interesting network of pre-programmed node paths, to make the system simpler to use than conventional packet connections. A user will first connect to a local FULL SERVICE node, then connect to the node closest to the desired end destination. The nodes along the way are pre-programmed, not requiring the user to connect to node after node, in order to complete a path to a distant station.
Sometimes, a node will not have the entire path memorized, so the initiating station may need to request more than one node to make the final connection. The list of pre-programmed node paths are usually available by sumbitting the (R)outes" command.
SEDAN nodes will also function in the more conventional mode by initiating the (MH)eard command, obtaining a list of nodes heard recently, and connecting accordingly.
A simple directory tree for dependable destination paths is listed below. Very often, some paths are available sporadically, due to changes in propogation that occur almost daily. Those paths will be listed with a (*). I'll use the aliases to make it simpler to type, and print to total callsign/alias directory at the bottom of this doc.
Connectable directly from the Triangle area (depending on your location):
To get to the west/north SEDAN "onramp" WB4QOC-8 (RDU), first test your
path. The correct route (most dependable) is:
Some stations can connect to WB4QOC-8 direct. Stations in Eastern Wake county and points farther east must connnect as K4RTP-7 -> WB4QOC-8 (RDU)
To the west and north via WB4QOC-8 (RDU) from the triangle, first connect to
RTP OR SOWAKE (which ever is best from your location), then RDU. The following
are connectable directly from WB4QOC-8 (RDU) with reasonable dependability:
Two hops out:
Three hops out:
To the south and east from the triangle, SOWAKE and K4RTP-7 seem to be in
competition for the best route. Check the "MH" command on SOWAKE, and the
"J" command on K4RTP-7, to determine the best node at the time of operation.
From SOWAKE and K4RTP-7, the following are connectable during mild band
To the west, K4RTP-6 (SOWAKE) has a reasonable path to:
