VINTAGE PUBLICATIONS

There's an outstanding publication available that's aimed at the collector of Vintage Amateur Radio Equipment. The name of the magazine is Electric Radio. It's a monthly publication published by Barry and Shirley Wiseman. I've been subscribing to Electric Radio for about 3 years, and I'm VERY pleased. It's one of my favorite magazine subscriptions. It is packed with pictures of beautiful vintage equipment, modification and restoration info, construction projects, bulletins, and classified advertisements. Their U.S.P.S. address is:

          Electric Radio,
          14643 Country Road G.
          Cortez, CO 81321-9575

Their phone number is: (970)564-9185. Electric Radio can also be reached via internet email at er@frontier.net

VINTAGE INTERNET NEWSGROUPS

There is an internet newgroup devoted to the collection, swap/sell/wanted, restoration, and use of Vintage Amateur Radio equipment. The newsgroup is: rec.radio.amateur.boatanchors, and you can visit by clicking on this hypertext or by loading the name into your news reader.

VINTAGE EMAIL REFLECTORS

There's an email reflector named "BoatAnchors", fondly referring to our favorite topic... Vintage Amateur Radio Equipment!

The "BoatAnchors" reflector is moderated, and has the best signal-to-noise ratio of any reflector I've been exposed to on the internet. There's lots of traffic and a wealth of knowledge among those who reside there. It's a very friendly environment, and all one has to do to get an answer to some area of question is... ASK! It's one of the most enjoyable aspects of the internet I've found, and it greatly enhances my enjoyment of collecting and restoring vintage gear.

The reflector is well maintained, and runs on a super fast server. Due to maintenance and operating expenses on the system, there is a small charge for membership. The fee is $12/year, less than a pizza and drink for 2, hehehe. To get a "taste" of the "BoatAnchors" reflector, send an email to Jack W4KH at listown@jackatak.theporch.com asking for the 1 month free trial subscription of the BoatAnchor's mail list. Jack is the "BoatAnchors" Mailing List Archiver/Owner.

For an explanation of mail lists and mail reflectors, have a look at TEARA's Email Reflectors page.
